When I look back over what I’ve done so far, in the context of who Bandit is now… well, she makes sense. And I can write her better in the future now.
This is the setup I’ll be using to create and test puzzles. I’ll be developing this puzzle by itself to ensure that it is well-balanced and enjoyable in and of itself before I work on integrating it into the game as a whole.
Control is intrinsic to games as a medium. The feeling of lack of control is key to creating an atmosphere of cosmic horror. The key to creating a Lovecraftian horror within a game is maintaining a careful balance between the two.
